What Is the National Civics Bee®?

The National Civics Bee® encourages students in grades 6–8 to explore civic life, strengthen their civic knowledge and share ideas for improving their communities. Modeled after traditional academic competitions, the Bee combines civics questions with student presentations focused on real-world challenges.

The winner of the Kansas State Finals advances to the National Civics Bee® Championship in Washington, D.C.

Why Civics Matters

We believe informed and engaged citizens strengthen communities, workplaces and democracy itself. The National Civics Bee® celebrates young people who are curious about public life and willing to contribute to their communities.
