Kaye Monk-Morgan | Teacher
V. Kaye Monk-Morgan has been a college administrator for over 25 years. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry/Business, a Master’s degree in Public Administration and is pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, all from Wichita State University. Her dual passions for education policy and student success were created during her undergraduate years, when she held a student position in the very TRIO program she ultimately led for 20 years. In addition to her role as the director of the TRIO Upward Bound Math Science program, Monk-Morgan has held several administrative positions including the Assistant Dean for Students in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She is currently serving Wichita State University as the Vice President for Strategic Engagement and Planning, with responsibilities for the university-wide community engagement strategy, strategic planning, university-wide assessment and accreditation and first-generation study initiatives.
Monk-Morgan has served the college access and success community as the tristate chapter president, the president of the Educational Opportunity Association (EOA), a 10-state regional membership organization and six years of service on the board of the directors for the Council for Opportunity in Education, the national TRIO association, including a term as the board chair. She has served on several local boards and has recently been certified as a leadership associate with the Kansas Leadership Center.
While all of this is important, what really counts to Kaye is that she is a life-long learner, teacher, mentor, mentee, daughter, sister, auntie, wife, and a mother. She is an aspiring yogi, wannabe long-distance runner and tried and true girlfriend. She lives in Wichita, KS with her husband, Derek, and young adult sons, Payton and Cameron.
