You’re invited to support Kansas middle school students competing in the second Kansas State Finals of the National Civics Bee® on Saturday, June 27! Modeled after traditional spelling and geography bees, this event provides a platform for students to share ideas for enhancing their communities while demonstrating their civic knowledge. Cash prizes and recognition await the student winners!
The National Civics Bee® is a partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and five chambers of commerce across Kansas: Hutchinson, Overland Park, Pittsburg, Salina and Wichita. The Kansas Leadership Center is proud to host this statewide civics competition. The winner of the state finals will represent Kansas on the national stage later this fall!
Event program
2:30 p.m. – Doors open
3 p.m. – Student Introductions, Welcome, and Opening Remarks
3:15 p.m. – Rounds 1 and 2 of the Kansas State Finals of the National Civics Bee: 10 Questions on Civics, Government, and the Constitution in each round.
3:45 p.m. – Keynote Remarks – Tanya Ramesh, 2025 Kansas State Champion
4 p.m. – Round 3 of the Kansas State Finals of the National Civics Bee: Top 3 Scorers from Rounds 1 and 2 present their Civic Idea to a slate of judges, who will ask clarifying questions.
5 p.m. – Awards and Networking Reception
Free and open to the public, the Kansas State Finals is an exciting event designed to celebrate our state finalists from across the state of Kansas and energize civic engagement across generations. The program includes a keynote address by our 2025 Kansas State Champion, Tanya Ramesh.
The day concludes with light hors d’Oeuvres and a networking reception.
