What’s at Stake in the Fall 2018 elections?
Electoral campaigns don’t often address adaptive challenges, those tough problems that defy easy solutions, very well. To help remedy that, The Journal has chosen to focus on 10 of the key issues that the winners will face upon taking office.
This edition includes a story looking at how community and health care leaders responded to fill a void in emergency room care after the hospital closed in Independence. Despite successfully stabilizing emergency care in the community, the city remained a symbol in the state’s ongoing debate over whether to expand Medicaid.
