Over the next few months, The Journal invites you to be part of a series of community conversations focused on immigration and demographic change. We aim to foster better dialogue, challenge narratives, and find common ground in an ever-evolving world.
The series will kick off on August 17 at the Kansas Leadership Center. Join us and invite your network to connect with some of The Journal’s Complicating the Narrative Thought Partners, hear from a couple of featured guests and stretch your muscle for going beyond national news headlines and political party talking points. Featured guests will include:
- Rekha Sharma-Crawford, Managing Partner, Sharma-Crawford Attorneys at Law
- Sheriff Jeff Easter, Sedgwick County
- Yeni Silva-Renteria, Executive Director, International Rescue Committee Kansas
In the weeks that follow the opening discussion, we’ll team up with community leadership programs to convene similar discussions in communities across Kansas with the goal of gathering consensus on a variety of questions that will be published in an upcoming issue of The Journal. We’re asking Kansas to not just talk, but take on an assignment, one that’s small but significant.
At the end of the process, we might have evidence of progress toward a collective purpose on these difficult topics. Or we might not.
But what matters the most is we’ll be talking with one another about how to make our communities better places to live.
If you would like to host a conversation on this topic in your community, check out our landing page to learn more and register.
