Leadership & Faith program set for Coffeyville, Fort Scott and Howard

by | Sep 13, 2012 | Events

People of faith of all denominations in southeast Kansas are invited to a program that makes a strong connection between community health and leadership from the faith community. Leadership and Faith: Southeast Kansas is a three-session program offered by the Kansas Leadership Center designed for people of faith who believe they are called to build stronger, healthier, more prosperous communities. The program, which begins in October, will be offered in Coffeyville, Fort Scott and Howard. Leadership and Faith: Southeast Kansas is designed to equip community members with leadership skills and to build on the momentum of Project 17 – an initiative aimed at improving the economy and health in southeast Kansas. “We see tremendous outcomes from programs connected to faith communities,” said Ed O’Malley, President and CEO of the Kansas Leadership Center. “We believe it’s because the participants – members of congregations – have a very personal connection to the idea of improving the world around them.” KLC will offer this regional leadership training effort during three sessions spread over five weeks. The programs will run concurrently in each of the three communities. This program met with great success in Chanute, Eureka, Independence, Iola and Pittsburg this past spring. “This is a terrific opportunity to do something to personally expand your leadership formation, connect with other faith denominations and have an impact on your community,” said Joe Dellasega, Pittsburg, a participant in an earlier Leadership and Faith: Southeast Kansas program. “It’s one of the most exciting opportunities I’ve had to make a difference in my life, church and community. “The multi-faith component here is very important,” said project director Sue Dondlinger. “A significant part of building the kind of leadership capacity necessary to make progress on the issues of southeast Kansas involves honing collaboration skills and finding a shared purpose.” Dates/Times for Leadership and Faith: Southeast Kansas: Wednesday, October 24, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Fort Scott Thursday, October 25, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Coffeyville and Howard Tuesday, November 13, 430 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Coffeyville, Fort Scott and Howard Wednesday, November 14, 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon, Coffeyville, Fort Scott and Howard Tuesday, December 4, 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Coffeyville, Fort Scott and Howard Locations for Leadership and Faith: Southeast Kansas: Coffeyville: 3rd floor Hospitality Room at Veterans Memorial Football Stadium at Pfister Park Ft.
