Kathy Lefler | Collaborative Project Coordinator

As coordinator for the Wichita Journalism Collaborative, Kathy Lefler leads efforts to increase the quality of journalism and collaboration in Wichita’s information ecosystem. It is the perfect opportunity for Kathy who has a passion for strengthening communities and believes journalists play an active role in making that happen.

Kathy’s role provides her with the opportunity to combine her education and experience in a new way as she works alongside talented journalists. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University and worked for newspapers in Arizona, Los Angeles and Wichita. After earning a master’s degree in Christian ministry from Friends University, she served at East Heights United Methodist Church as volunteer and communications coordinator and then at Wichita Habitat for Humanity as marketing and advocacy manager.

When she’s not working or reading the latest news, you’ll find Kathy outdoors taking a bike ride or a walk, indoors taking a spin class at the Y, going to the movies with her husband or volunteering at local schools.
