Jamillah Anderson | Marketing and Communications Officer

Jamillah Anderson is the marketing and communications officer at the Kansas Leadership Center, where she helps uncover and tell stories of people, organizations and communities making progress on difficult challenges.

Before joining KLC, Jamillah spent more than 15 years leading marketing, communications, culture and engagement efforts across higher education, retail, technology and nonprofit organizations. Her career has included roles at Arizona State University, Sprouts Farmers Market, Pearson and Guild.

She is also the creator of The Peace Project, an ongoing research and storytelling initiative exploring how people define, pursue and protect peace in their lives.

Her career began as an NBC Page in New York City, where she discovered a love for storytelling and the power of asking good questions. She has carried that curiosity throughout her career and believes some of the best ideas come from listening, learning and serving alongside others.

Jamillah earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Master of Public Administration from Arizona State University.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find her starting her day with a 5K walk, reading a good book or cheering for her kids, some might say loudly, from the sidelines at a softball or baseball game. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathan, and their two children. Some of her best lessons about leadership come from the young people in her life, including the girls in the Girl Scout troop she leads and her own children. Their courage, optimism and willingness to speak up remind her that leadership starts long before a title.
