Daily Update: Group plans to offer 50 elementary school families inspiring COVID-19 support baskets

Made Men Inc. and the Triage Center developed an action plan to support 50 New Chelsea Elementary School families in Kansas City, KS who have been directly impacted by COVID-19. The baskets will include food, fun board games and information resources that connect them to supporting organizations for additional assistance.

“The depth of understanding and care is difficult to convey from this group of Wyandotte residents who are and have experienced COVID through work and personal experiences. They definitely are empathetic towards the families they have been serving and will continue to serve through their partnership at the school.”

– Dola Gabriel, Facilitator

More Community Action Plans

Here’s what else is new in grassroots efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Kansas.

  • Wichita Festivals, Inc.: Create a COVID-themed virtual musical performance competition to support local musicians who have been unable to perform during the pandemic and lift the spirits of Wichita residents.
  • Live Well Crawford County: Distribute information to Crawford county residents about grocery delivery services in the area.
  • Cooper Elementary School: Offer cleaning supplies to families and air purifiers to the Derby elementary school to keep students safe as they return to in-person learning.
  • Rise Up Central Kansas: Incentivize Barton County residents with gift cards to wear masks out in the community to reduce the stigma related to wearing a mask.
  • Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce: Produce a “BecauseWeCare” video campaign interviewing local Ellsworth business owners to increase trust, transparency and communication within the community.
