Sally Buzbee
Sally Buzbee is the regional editor for the United States and Canada at Reuters News. Before joining Reuters in late 2024, she served as executive editor of The Washington Post, becoming the newspaper’s first woman top editor, and previously held the role of executive editor at The Associated Press.
She also served as Washington bureau chief and Middle East regional editor for The AP, overseeing coverage of numerous wars, conflicts, presidential elections, campaigns, and policy issues. Buzbee has extensive investigative reporting experience and began her career as a reporter in Topeka, working under legendary AP statehouse correspondent Lew Ferguson.
Buzbee serves on the board of the Committee to Protect Journalists and is a judge for the Livingston Awards for young journalists and the Gerald Loeb Awards for business reporting. She holds a journalism degree from the University of Kansas, an MBA from Georgetown University, and is a graduate of Olathe South High School.
She is the daughter-in-law of Richard Buzbee, the longtime editor and publisher of The Hutchinson News. Buzbee has two daughters. Her late husband, John Buzbee, was a reporter for The Kansas City Star and later a U.S. Foreign Service officer.
