The 2024 Leadership in Public Service includes three separate program tracks for incoming state legislators, current local elected officials, and those who aspire to run for elected office or serve as an appointed official in state or local government.
Local Elected Officials Fellowship
for elected officials in Kansas serving in city or county government or on school boards

Location: Kansas Leadership Center

Emerging Public Officials Leadership Training
for Kansans who are running for office or aspire to serve in elected or appointed positions

October 2, 2024: Kansas Leadership Center
October 19, 2024: Kansas City
October 29, 2024: Virtual

Leadership and Legacy in the Statehouse
a program for newly elected, incoming Kansas state legislators
Program Dates:
December 3-4, 2024
Location: Topeka
Eligibility: all newly elected legislators will receive a special invitation to join

Overview
The Leadership in Public Service Program at the Kansas Leadership Center equips existing, new and emerging public officials in Kansas with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to tackle complex challenges and drive positive change in public affairs. KLC upholds a non-partisan stance in its Leadership in Public Service Program, emphasizing impartiality and neutrality in our approach to developing effective leaders across diverse sectors of public service. It is our aspiration to foster respect, inclusivity, and collaboration among participants of varied backgrounds and affiliations. Through a dynamic and immersive learning experience, participants will:

Gain a deep understanding of leadership principles and practices.

Enhance leadership capabilities through experiential learning and real-world case studies.

Build a strong network of peers and mentors committed to advancing public service in Kansas and beyond.

Program Details
Locations: Programs will be held at the Kansas Leadership Center (325 E. Douglas Avenue, Wichita, Kansas) as well as locations to be announced in Kansas City and Topeka. Virtual programs will be delivered via Zoom Conference Software.
Tuition Fee: There is no cost to enroll, but an application is required (see below) for acceptance into a program.
Required Texts: Reading materials will be provided at no charge.
Pre-Work: Details regarding pre-reading are included in an e-mail you’ll receive upon notification of acceptance.
