Case-in-Point (affectionately known to those who practice it as CIP) is a provocative teaching method that rests on a simple idea: Leadership, although difficult to teach can be learned in a dynamic classroom setting where learners experience the very conditions that make exercising leadership challenging.
This 34-page excerpt from Teaching Leadership offers the most detailed overview and introduction available to Case-in-Point, a method that “compels you as an instructor to model the leadership competencies you are trying to teach.”
The download features tools and guides for practicing CIP such as:
- Common Challenges of Case-in-Point
- Framework for a Case-in-Point Session
- Diagnosing at Four Levels of Attention
- Common Classroom Patterns and Personalities
- Types of Interventions
- Ways to Gather Data
- Potential Moves in Case-in-Point
- Ground Rules
- Regulating the Heat in Case-in-Point
- and more
