WJC Summer 2026 Internship (part-time)

The Wichita Journalism Collaborative is seeking a Summer 2026 intern to support reporting, digital content, and media collaboration efforts. This part-time, hybrid internship offers college journalists hands-on experience writing stories, managing website content, and creating social media while working alongside professional reporters.

The ideal candidate is a college student interested in journalism who is eager to learn and build a strong portfolio. Interns will help shape their focus, collaborate with media partners, and gain real-world experience producing and publishing content.

Accounting Operations Manager

The Kansas Leadership Center is seeking an Accounting Operations Manager to oversee core accounting functions within its Finance & Operations department. This full-time, onsite role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for accounts payable and receivable, general ledger activity, project and grant accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional who can work independently and manage multiple priorities. A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant accounting experience are required, with nonprofit or grant accounting experience preferred and strong knowledge of GAAP and Excel essential.

Communications & Marketing Director

The Kansas Leadership Center is seeking a Communications & Marketing Director to lead its brand, messaging, and public presence. This full-time, onsite role reports to the Chief Business Development Officer and oversees strategy and execution across marketing, digital communications, media relations, and content to advance KLC’s mission and growth.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on communicator with strong writing skills, experience managing campaigns and digital channels, and the ability to collaborate across teams. A bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of relevant experience are required, with nonprofit or mission-driven experience preferred.

Development Operations Manager

The Kansas Leadership Center is seeking a Development Operations Manager to oversee the systems and processes that support business development, grants, and partnerships. This full-time, onsite role reports to the Chief Business Development Officer and manages the opportunity pipeline, proposal coordination, CRM systems, and operational support for revenue-generating initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an organized, data-savvy operations professional who can manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams. A bachelor’s degree, at least five years of relevant experience, and CRM proficiency are required, with experience supporting business development or sales functions preferred.

IDEAS Program Manager

The Kansas Leadership Center is seeking a full-time IDEAS Program Manager to oversee a grant-funded initiative connecting high schools, community colleges, and community partners. This onsite role manages day-to-day implementation, partner relationships, and reporting to ensure successful delivery of the funded project.

The ideal candidate is an organized, collaborative project manager with strong communication skills and experience in education, grants, or partnership work. A bachelor’s degree is required, along with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and meet reporting requirements.

Program Associate (part-time)

The Kansas Leadership Center is seeking a part-time Program Associate to support programs, events, and daily operations. This onsite role reports to the Director of Programs and includes coordinating Speaker’s Bureau activities, supporting the bookstore, managing data, staffing reception, and assisting with event logistics.

The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills and a service mindset. Experience in event or program support is preferred, along with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively.

Journal Reporter (Civics Beat)

The Kansas Leadership Center, publisher of The Journal, is seeking a creative, detail-oriented civics reporter to join its team. This role focuses on producing accessible, accurate journalism that helps Kansans better understand civic systems, public processes and the decisions that shape their communities. The position plays a central role in covering politics, elections and civic life for audiences who may not traditionally engage with government or public affairs.

The ideal candidate brings strong journalism and communication skills, along with curiosity, adaptability and a commitment to public service. They are confident in their abilities while remaining eager to learn, thrive in collaborative environments and adapt easily to changing priorities and workflows. This person is drawn to the ideas and practices taught by the Kansas Leadership Center, values diversity, equity and inclusion in both reporting and relationships, and is excited to contribute to a newsroom focused on trust, clarity and community impact.
