A Journal Magazine Launch Event and Discussion
Join us Aug. 21 at the Kansas Leadership Center for the release of the KLC Journal magazine’s Summer Edition: Reinventing School—Civic Leadership and the Kansas School Redesign. In communities across the state, an ambitious ‘moonshot’ is underway to adapt the way Kansas public schools prepare students for the future. As early adopters begin year two in orbit, the redesign is opening educational frontiers, invigorating some while confounding others.
The vision hinges not just on the efforts of teachers and administrators, but also on the commitment of students, parents, employers, government officials and district patrons to help Kansas move beyond the status quo. At stake is the opportunity to significantly increase the ability of the 35,000 seniors graduating in Kansas each year to prosper in academics or their careers within two years of earning a diploma.
Managing Editor Chris Green will discuss the Journal’s coverage with writers Sarah Caldwell Hancock and Stan Finger, Education Commissioner Randy Watson, educators from school redesign districts, parents, students and employers. KLC President and CEO Ed O’Malley will facilitate large and small discussion with attendees.
