FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kansas Leadership Center Launches When Everyone Leads,
a New Book with a Revolutionary Approach to Leadership

Wichita, Kan. – The Kansas Leadership Center (KLC), a Wichita-based nonprofit, is releasing a new book today by Ed O’Malley and Julia Fabris McBride. In When Everyone Leads: How the Toughest Challenges Get Seen and Solved, O’Malley and Fabris McBride present a revolutionary approach to leadership based on the organization’s guiding principle that leadership is an activity, not a position. Anyone can exercise leadership, and when everyone does, organizations, communities and individuals make progress on their toughest challenges.

“Leadership and authority are fundamental to everything we’re introducing in this book. Leadership is an activity and authority is a position. That might not sound revolutionary, but that totally turns the world of leadership and management on its head. Leadership is an activity that somebody does, authority is a role that somebody plays,” said Ed O’Malley, president and CEO of the Kansas Health Foundation and founding president and CEO of the Kansas Leadership Center.

Over the last 15 years, O’Malley and Fabris McBride have led thousands of people through programs to help them engage in the act of leadership and have seen remarkable results with people from all walks of life.

“We launched the Kansas Leadership Center in 2007 with funding from the Kansas Health Foundation whose board members understood that the quality and quantity of leadership is key to the prosperity, health, and success of organizations, companies, and communities. Over the years we’ve worked with over 15,000 people using the ideas in this book. Our research and experience with partners throughout our state and around the world, show that the ideas in this book work to help people make more progress on what they care about most,” said Fabris McBride.

Full of specific examples of challenges and solutions from fields as diverse as nonprofits, school boards, health care, and the corporate world, When Everyone Leads offers a proven, actionable approach for any company, organization, or community to navigate through its most pressing challenges.

“Our hope in writing this book is to build on a movement we’ve already started. A movement that inspires more people to practice leadership where they can and when they can. The new model of leadership we talk about in When Everyone Leads is a match for our turbulent times. It is hopeful and forward-looking. We know through our experience working with hundreds of companies, organizations, and communities that what you’ll discover in our book is an antidote for polarization, stagnation, and divisiveness. Our model works because it places the challenge, not the person, at the center,” said Fabris McBride.

With 45 author events scheduled throughout the year and great interest from individuals and organizations around the country and across five continents, When Everyone Leads is poised to land a top 10 spot on The Wall Street Journal (BookScan) bestseller list for opening week. In addition, the book will appear in upcoming issues of Fast Company, Forbes and Inc., is on sale at Hudson retailers in 200 airports around the country, and has earned advanced praise from Senator Jerry Moran, New York Times bestselling author Arthur Brooks and bestselling author Mónica Guzmán among others.

When Everyone Leads is now available where books are sold.
