Facing just one significant change can be enough to tax the leadership capacity of many organizations. But in 2020, Four County Mental Health Center found itself amid what might be called a triple whammy. Already transitioning in how it served patients and utilized electronic health records, the COVID-19 pandemic forced employees of the southeast Kansas provider to grapple with another major adaptive challenge.
If ever there was a proving ground for the idea that everyone in an organization can lead, it would be Four County. Over 235 of their employees have attended at least one leadership training experience through KLC, and at least 85 have attended multiple programs.
How can organizations manage the “hamster wheel” and keep the leadership ideas front and center? How do organizations navigate competing values between immediate responsibilities and building leadership capacity for the future?
Join Chris Green in conversation with Four County Mental Health staff about the promise and challenges of building a workplace culture where everyone can lead. This story is featured in the Spring 2023 edition of The Journal which is expected to hit mailboxes in mid-April.
Featured guests from Four County Mental Health include:
- Greg Hennen, executive director
- Steve Denny, deputy director
- Melissa Lunsford, grant project manager
