The Art and Practice of Civic Leadership Development

For Kansans in their 20s and 30s 

What is this program?

 Art & Practice is a unique, highly-relational professional development experience for Kansans interested in building the civic leadership capacity of others.

Who is this program for?
 
Art & Practice is for Kansans in their 20s and 30s who:
  • Have the passion and capacity for helping others develop their leadership abilities;
  • Want to teach, coach, facilitate, train or consult others about leadership; 
  • Are receptive to transformative experiences and to new ideas.                                                                           
 
The Kansas Leadership Center seeks an Art & Practice class that reflects the ethnic, geographic, and occupational diversity of Kansas.
 
What will I get out of this program?
 
As a participant of Art & Practice, you will: 
  • Have a transformational experience that deepens your understanding and practice of leadership;
  • Learn and apply new teaching and facilitation skills;
  • Build individual networks to support your continued work and development.
 
When and how will this program start?
 
If you’re curious and want to learn more before you apply for the program, consider attending one or both of these optional pre-program gatherings:
 
Look before you leap… Attend a “What’s the Buzz?” Leadership Social
  • Enjoy good food, network with influential community members and Kansas Leadership center alumni and share of your aspirations for developing others.
  • Socials, each starting with a gathering at 6:00 p.m., will be held: February 9 in Wichita, March 1 in Hays, March 8 in Garden City and March 27 in Kansas City.
 
Explore further…Attend a Pre-Program Workshop
  • Get a taste of the Kansas Leadership Center curriculum, gain new leadership skills you can put to use immediately and hear program details to decide if Art & Practice is right for you.
  • Workshops, each starting with a gathering at 6:00 p.m., will be held: March 29 in Wichita, April 3 in Hays, April 19 in Garden City and April 23 in Kansas City.

The Kansas Leadership Center will select and notify its Art & Practice class by May 11. About 25 individuals will be selected. The Art & Practice program will officially launch June 6-8, 2012 in Wichita.
